Indoor Air Quality

PROBLEM

Due to the climatic conditions of high temperature and humidity, indoor air spaces are cooled by air conditioners or central air cooling systems. To avoid cool air from escaping, which increases the operating cost, the same air is often circulated or not refreshed at all.

Indoor air pollution, in addition to incrementing the transmission of airborne viral diseases also cause fatigue, nausea, headache, nasal irritation , and dificulty concentrating. All of which can be avoided or reduced by ventilating indoor spaces correctly.

SOLUTION

One of the most reliable ways to know if a space is ventilated sufficiently is provided by Indoor Air Quality sensors. These devices measure the CO2 concentration in the air.

Sensors are capable of automatic calibration to monitor CO2 levels correctly. The data is recorded and centralized to generate alarms improving decision-making on ventilation.

The Indoor Air Quality monitoring also measures temperature and humidity.

BENEFITS

  • Risk reduction of spreading airborne infectious diseases
  • Enhanced comfort for workers
  • Increased productivity of workers
  • Reductions in health care costs
  • Savings in energy costs

Water Level in Tanks

PROBLEM

Facilities such as plants and residential complexes store water in tanks of various sizes for use in many applications, drinking water, irrigation agriculture, and fire suppression.

Those tanks frequently run low or completely out of water without the staff knowing about it. This results in abrupt interruption of water service and difficulties in water supply.

Those situations also frequently result in disruption of industrial production in factories and in dissatisfied users in residential complexes.

SOLUTION

The Tank Water Level sensors from Smart Box & GeoPortal keep track remotely and in real-time of the level of the water. These devices measure the water level by taking periodic pressure readings from the bottom of the tank.

The water level is determined using a submersible hydrostatic pressure transducer. The data is collected and centralized to generate alarms based on different user-defined water thresholds.

BENEFITS

  • Enhanced water filling scheduling
  • Allows providing continuous water service
  • Allows better use of maintenance staff
  • Enhanced user relationship

Electricity

PROBLEM

Energy bills don´t give visibility or sufficient granularity to many electricity parameters. This deficiency does not allow factories or facilities to determine the appliances using inefficiently and excessive energy.

As a result, many energy costs are and maintenance costs are unnecessarily high.

SOLUTION

The electricity monitor from Smart Box & GeoPortal accurately measures the quality and the consumption of electrical power of any three-phase, split-phase, or single-phase circuit.

The monitor measures AC voltage and current with split-core transformers. The data is wirelessly communicated to our portal for users to visualize and analyze electrical energy consumption in real-time. Alerts are sent based on user-defined thresholds.

BENEFITS

  • Reduction of electrical energy bill
  • Preventive maintenance on inefficient appliances
  • Risk reduction of power outage
  • Increased productivity of workers

Temperature and Humidity

PROBLEM

Many warehouses, silos, containers, and food storing facilities lack real-time remote monitoring of temperature and humidity. This deficiency puts perishable food and sensitive goods at risk of being damaged or lost due to being exposed to excessive levels of temperature and humidity for a prolonged amount of time.

Due to lack of remote monitoring, unnecessary frequent visits to the facilities are done by the staff to manually check the temperature and humidity.

SOLUTION

Temperature and humidity sensors are placed in strategic locations of the storage facility. The sensors take temperature and humidity readings at set intervals.

The sensors measure with high precision and are configurable to send alerts when user-defined temperature and humidity thresholds are exceeded. The sensors data is stored in the portal for visualization and analysis.

BENEFITS

  • More frequent and accurate measurements
  • Better quality food
  • Improved staff efficiency
  • More efficient monitoring resulting in cost savings

Differential Pressure / Airflow

PROBLEM

The risk of contamination is a major issue in critical environments such as hospitals, laboratories, and cleanrooms. Any fluctuations or deviations from the desired levels of air pressure and airflow can increase the risk of the introduction of contaminants, impurities, or dust.

Costly downtime and repairs caused by the clogging of filters in air condition ducts and HVAC systems often go undetected by a lack of monitoring.

Due to a lack of remote monitoring, frequent manual checks by the staff are necessary to ensure that the levels are maintained within the desired range, costing time and increasing the risk of errors.

SOLUTION

The LoRaWAN-based sensors accurately measure the airflow and difference in air pressure between two locations, such as monitoring overpressure in sterile and clean rooms. With industry-leading accuracy of 0.1%, the sensors measure differential pressure in the range of 25Pa to 5000Pa or airflow in the range of 0 to 40m/s.

The data from the sensors is communicated to our portal at regular intervals real-time, with alert system.

BENEFITS

  • Mitigating of risk of contamination
  • Saving time and reducing the risk of errors
  • Reducing downtime and costly repairs
  • Increased efficiency and enhanced overall system performance
  • Timely and informed decision-making based on real-time data and alerts
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards

Vibration

PROBLEM

Many industrial facilities rely on machinery and equipment to operate efficiently, but without real-time remote monitoring of vibration levels, these assets are at risk of unexpected downtime, costly repairs, and even catastrophic failure. Vibration is a key indicator of machinery health, and excessive vibration can indicate issues such as misalignment, bearing wear, and unbalanced rotors.

Manual monitoring of vibration levels is time-consuming and may not be practical or cost-effective for the staff on-site.

SOLUTION

The vibration sensors from Smart Box & GeoPortal are installed on the machines to monitor. These devices measure temperature, acceleration, and velocity on the X, Y, and Z axes by taking periodic readings.

The data is collected and centralized to generate alarms based on different user-defined thresholds for temperature, acceleration, and velocity.

BENEFITS

  • Prevention of costly repairs or downtime
  • Improved machinery uptime and reliability
  • Reduction of costly replacements of parts
  • Enhanced safety for staff
  • Reduced maintenance costs
  • Improved plant efficiency

Access Monitoring

PROBLEM

Unauthorized access to facilities can pose a significant security risk to businesses, potentially leading to theft, vandalism, or even harm to staff. Without a reliable system for detecting and alerting door and window openings, facility managers may not be aware of unauthorized access until it’s too late.

In addition, without remote monitoring of door and window openings, facility managers don´t have access to valuable data on usage patterns, leading to suboptimal resource allocation and decreased operational efficiency.

SOLUTION

The door/window alarm sensor from Smart Box & GeoPortal records openings, closings, and other movements. Its small size makes it ideal for mounting on door frames, window panes, and other objects.

The data is recorded and centralized in our portal to generate alarms when openings and/or closings are detected.

BENEFITS

  • Increased security and protection of assets
  • Improved operational efficiency and reduced costs
  • Compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Greater control and visibility

Liquid Leak

PROBLEM

Without remote monitoring of liquid leak detection, leaks may go undetected for extended periods, leading to increased losses of product, environmental damage, and safety hazards for the staff.

In server rooms or cabinets, liquid leaks can disrupt critical business operations. Liquid leaks can be caused by a variety of factors, including condensation, pipe leaks, or equipment malfunctions. Without a reliable system for detecting and alerting to liquid leaks, facility managers may not be aware of a leak until it has caused significant damage.

SOLUTION

The liquid leak sensor detects when water or other liquid is present or absent by completing or opening the circuit between two wires. When the presence or absence of liquid occurs, the sensor transmits this condition over the LoRaWAN network allowing the user to immediately receive an alert.

BENEFITS

  • Prevention of damage to equipment or infrastructure
  • Improved safety
  • Prevention of disruptions to critical business operations
  • Minimizing repair costs and replacement of parts
  • Environmental protection
